Elemental Musical Adventures
A whole website of free, browser-based experiences that inspired either music or movement improvisation, ACEMM Secretary Kate Bright has compiled a myriad of applications that encourage students to use their voice or body to create music. Complete with either instrument substitutes or completely virtual instruments that inspired different ways of making music, and ways for students to notate and compose without needing Western musical notation.
Peter and the “What If”?
Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf is one of the mainstays of music education. Since its composition in 1936, it has been used to teach the instruments of the orchestra to students around the world. My question is this: how can music educators transform a traditionally passive listening experience into an active elemental experience? Check out this website created by ACEMM Secretary Kate Bright, a useful resource with a place to find each theme without having to correctly click on a YouTube video link.
