Go Towards the Music Grant

  • Eligibility

Applicants must be current music teachers working in schools, community programs, or similar educational settings.

Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to music and movement education, particularly through an elemental music and movement approach.

Preference will be given to teachers who plan to attend events that focus on professional development in elemental music and movement techniques, culturally diverse music and movement, or projects that seek to enrich students' educational experiences with diverse cultural perspectives.

  • Grant Priorities

Elemental Music and Movement Approach: Priority will be given to teachers attending events that explore or expand their knowledge of the elemental music and movement approach, focusing on creative, holistic, and experiential teaching practices.

Culturally Diverse Music and Movement: Grants will prioritize teachers attending events that offer insights into music and movement traditions from various cultures. This could include exploring indigenous, folk, global, or underrepresented musical styles and movement practices.

Student Enrichment Projects: Preference will also be given to teachers attending events with the intention of sharing their learnings with students, thereby enriching the students’ cultural and musical education. This may involve incorporating culturally diverse techniques or innovative approaches into their curriculum.

  • Funding

Each grant provides a reimbursement of up to $250 for travel expenses, including transportation, lodging, and related costs, to attend the approved professional development event.

Helping you get there …

The Go Towards the Music Grant can be used to cover only travel-related expenses. Other costs like registration fees or conference materials must be covered by other funding sources.
